Cecily Hayward

BA, CT (Counselor Trainee), Under clinical supervision of Rebecca Brown

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable”.” -Mr. Rogers

Cecily Hayward is a Social Work Intern currently pursuing her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Michigan. She is passionate about ensuring clients feel seen, understood, and comfortable showing up exactly as they are. Cecily believes that healing begins in relationships built on trust, authenticity, and compassion, and she values walking alongside clients through both the difficult and meaningful parts of life.

Cecily has a special interest in working with individuals navigating eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Her approach is warm, relational, and person-centered, grounded in the belief that every individual deserves care that honors their unique experiences and strengths. She strives to create an environment that feels approachable, nonjudgmental, and deeply human.

Prior to beginning her clinical work, Cecily spent time supporting college students through moments of crisis, grief, stress, and major life adjustment. Those experiences strengthened her ability to remain calm, present, and supportive during emotionally overwhelming situations, while also reinforcing the importance of connection and feeling safe with another person.

Cecily is especially drawn to work that helps people feel less alone in their experiences. She values honest conversations, meaningful therapeutic relationships, and helping clients build greater self-understanding, resilience, and confidence as they move toward healing and growth.
