Deb Cullman
Co-Owner of Create Art Studio & Workshop
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” -Thomas Merton
“It’s not about being good at art. It’s about art being good for you.”
Deborah believes that creativity is an essential part of being human and feels honored to witness individuals experience greater freedom, healing, and self-understanding through the practice of art. She earned degrees in both Spanish and Art from Bowling Green State University in 1999 and is the co-owner of CREATE: art studio + workshop, a community art studio founded in 2014 alongside co-owner Kerry Corrigan. Through CREATE, Deborah has helped cultivate an encouraging and creative environment where preschoolers, children, teens, and adults can explore art in meaningful and accessible ways.
Deborah’s approach emphasizes creative freedom over perfection, encouraging individuals to let go of performance, fear, and self-judgment in order to reconnect with themselves through the creative process. In 2020, she and Kerry developed what are now known as Watercolor Wellness Workshops, experiences designed to invite both experienced and beginner artists into a relaxed and restorative space for exploration, mindfulness, and self-expression.
She is deeply passionate about the connection between creativity and wellness and believes art can be a powerful vehicle for healing, personal growth, and emotional well-being. Deborah feels grateful to partner with Karuna House in bringing the therapeutic benefits of art and creativity to the community through compassionate and supportive experiences.
