Alexa Levison

BA, Licensed Professional Counselor

“When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another.” -Carl R. Rogers

Alexa is a master’s student in the clinical mental health counseling program at the University of Toledo. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in human development and family science from The Ohio State University. Her formal education has prepared her to provide individual and group counseling to children, adolescents, teenagers, and adults. She has been trained to work with typical developmental concerns, academic or career related concerns, stress management, relational concerns, phase of life or adjustment issues, and mild to moderate mental, emotional, social, and behavioral concerns.

Alexa views counseling as a collaborative journey between the counselor and client. Her role as a counselor is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space for clients to share their stories, gain insight into their experiences, and navigate through life’s challenges. Alexa strives to empower clients by assisting them in identifying goals that reflect their inner values, desires, and beliefs. She incorporates various theories of counseling in her practice including person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. Alexa understands that each client is unique in their experiences and tailors sessions to meet the needs and preferences of each client, focusing on their strengths and resources to facilitate positive change.
