Deborah wants to come alongside with you in that journey and is eager to offer creativity, genuineness, and hope to encourage and reinforce both your innate and learned skillsets despite the unique themes in your story.
Deborah is a licensed professional counselor who works with children and teens ages 18 and below. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in counseling, and Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a concentration in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Toledo. Her professional and clinical experiences include serving children and families with significant traumas, working with youths in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, resourcing clients in the community mental health field and schools, as well as serving children with autism spectrum disorder ages 4 to 6. She is skilled in addressing concerns on anxiety, depression, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, and interpersonal relationship issues.
Deborah is passionate to support children and teens in their overall development, and to collaborate with parents or caregivers in fostering meaningful and healthy communication in the family unit(s). She recognizes the different systems the child/teen is placed in, and is dedicated to promote resilience, mental and emotional wellness through their current chapter. She cultivates a secure and supportive environment for the child/teen to tell their stories, express their needs and feelings, as well as establish coping toolkits so they could flourish when they set foot out in the world!
Her therapeutic approaches comprise of and are not limited to strength-based interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, theraplay techniques, trauma-informed care, multicultural counseling and other evidence-based practices with her clients’ best interest at heart. Only upon request from her clients, Deborah integrates faith into the therapeutic process, aiming to promote mental health and spiritual well-being through a Christian worldview.
